There
are several golf courses in the area although
closest to Villas del Palmeral is the La Marquesa Golf
Course of Ciudad Quesada, which is around
10 minutes drive away. It's wide fairways with large
channels, lakes and obstacles will be to the taste
of most players. It is an extremely comfortable course
to play on and you will need to use all the clubs
in your bag.
A little further on is El
Plantío Golf Course, which is an
unspoilt area of Elche. It is both interesting
and fun to play on, being a filled with trees and
3 large lakes with a great variation of greens.
It is planned to be much larger in the near future.

One of the most interesting
features of the area of San Fulgencio is definitely
El Hondo Nature park, with its thick reeds and rare
birds are an amazing site when walking along the
many public access trails around the park. Cycle
routes and guided tours of the park are well recommended
and can be requested at San
Fulgencio or Dolores town halls.
San Fulgencio has a busy cultural
agenda, mainly based around the customs and traditions
of the town as well as its new Music
Auditorium and
House of Culture.
The main fiestas are held
in January and are to celebrate in honour of the
Saint Fulgencio and Saint Antonio Abad with a pilgrimage
to the small chapel on the highest point of the town.
The
Folk and Archaeology Museum of the town is also of great interest, representing
much of the town’s heritage and history. At
the museum, you can also get information on visits
to the archaeological sites of El
Molar and La
Escuera.
The nearby fishing
port, marina
and beaches of Guardamar are sure to fill the time
of most families. Whether it be messing about on
the water on a sail boat or just having fun on the
blue flag beaches of Guardamar and La
Marina.
Guardamar
also has a green heart, which is its beautiful park
in the centre of the town which runs down to the
sea from the main high street.
Guardamar is also known for
its spectacular sand
dunes and protected pine tree forest that surround them. The Mediterranean pine
trees are short stocky evergreens which give a feeling
of coolness on the hottest of days. They make a great
spot for a family picnic and are right next to the
beaches of Guardamar and La Marina.
