San Fulgencio is a quiet village
that borders with the municipalities of Guardamar, Elche,
Dolores and La Marina. Its carefree village life is mainly
based on the thriving agricultural sector present in the
whole region, mainly based on citrus fruits, artichokes and
lettuce. It caters for all needs (shops, restaurants, medical
services, banks, pharmacy...) and has a busy cultural scene
with a newly built music auditorium / theatre and many fiestas
going on during most of the year.
San Fulgencio has recently
become more well known for the different archaeological
findings, in and around this interesting municipality.
The most of important of which are the ones at “El Oral” and “La Escuera” that
date from 700-200 BC. The Iberian tribes, present in most
of the region, left strong traces of their trade with the
Greeks and Carthaginians and their manufacturing capabilities
in both these sites.
